Veteran screenwriter Prayag Raj passed away at the age of 88 due to age-related issues

Prayag Raj, the renowned screenwriter celebrated for his contributions to blockbuster films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb, and Coolie, has passed away at the age of 88. His son, Aditya, revealed Prayag Raj peacefully departed on Saturday evening at his residence in Bandra due to age-related issues and multiple ailments, including heart disease.
Prayag Raj's illustrious career encompassed over 100 films as a writer and a few as a lyricist. He left an indelible mark with his work on Amitabh Bachchan's iconic movies, including "Naseeb," "Suhaag," "Coolie," and "Mard."
He also contributed to screenplays for films like "Roti," starring Rajesh Khanna, "Dharam Veer," featuring Dharmendra and Jeetendra, and "Amar Akbar Anthony." His last project as a writer was the unreleased film "Zamanat," directed by the late S Ramanathan.
The veteran screenwriter's last rites were held on Sunday morning at Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar, attended by family and industry friends. Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to his frequent collaborator on his personal blog, acknowledging the loss of another stalwart in the film industry. Other actors, including Anil Kapoor and Shabana Azmi, also expressed their condolences and remembered Prayag Raj's valuable contributions to Indian cinema.
